Bell descendants of the Catawba (Eastern Sioux) Brown family of Catawba IR (SC)

Many of the families listed here of the Hopewell and Snapping Shoals communities of western Newton County, Georgia, who migrated to the region by the late 1700s were members of the Ancient Creek One Fire Confederacy which included mixed-race Mvskoke Kataapa (Catawba Eastern Sioux) peoples originating in the Carolinas (especially York and Lancaster SC) some with the family names Bell, Biggers, Lummus, McClellan / McClelland / McLellan, Stewart / Stuart and relations.  Snapping Shoals Creek watershed is located in the upper part of the Ocmulgee River basin. Bell and other Catawba (Eastern Sioux) families migrated there from now South Carolina to join the Muscogee Lower Creeks in the early 1800s. The Snapping Shoals community, originally considered part of Henry GA was renamed Hopewell, Newton GA.
